My Journey to ATLP: From Novice to Aspiring Fullstack Developer

Starting my journey with the Andela Technical Leadership Program (ATLP) has been an amazing change from knowing almost nothing about coding to dreaming of becoming a full stack developer. It shows how trying hard and getting opportunities can make dreams come true.

I first heard about Andela from my sister, who suggested it to me because she had been working with people who had gone through the program. I didn't have any experience in coding after finishing high school, but I liked computers and had some basic skills in design. This made me curious to learn more.

Even though I didn't do well initially, failing some tests and having a bad interview, I didn't give up. I joined because I wanted to learn how to code and build a career in software development. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, even if it seemed hard at first.

After failing some tests, I decided to learn on my own. I joined a program called TechUpSkills at Klab Rwanda, where I learned a lot about coding. I chose to focus on the frontend part, as participants had to choose between Frontend, Backend, or Mobile development. I worked on a real project there with my team, which was making a website for KLab Academy. It was a great experience and helped me improve my skills a lot.

Later, after I finished that program and continued learning on my own when Andela’s application came out a year later, I decided to try again. I said to myself, "Let me try this time and see if I can make it." Finally, I passed the interview and joined the program.

Now, I'm in my second month at ATLP, learning more about important concepts. After I finish the program, I want to find a good job in the tech industry. I also want to try making my products using the skills I will have learned.

If you're thinking about joining ATLP in the future, I say go for it! It's a great opportunity to learn and grow, even if it seems hard sometimes. Don't give up, keep trying, and you'll succeed. ATLP not only teaches you how to code but also helps you become a better professional, which is important in any career.

In conclusion, my journey with ATLP has shown me that you can achieve your goals with hard work and determination. I'm excited to see where my newfound skills will take me in software development.
